Operational Level in the Deck Department in International Shipping – Watch Officer Training

Course description

The course prepares participants to obtain the Watch Officer certificate for vessels of 500 gross tonnage and above. It covers the necessary operational knowledge in the deck department and the required practical experience.

Requirements for the certificate

• Possession of a General Operator GMDSS certificate.
• Certificates for radar and ARPA training at operational level.
• Higher‑level fire‑protection certificate.
• First‑aid medical certificate.
• Nautical command certificate.
• Rescuer certificate.
• Completion of studies in MJE type A, B or C (at least operational level) and a 12‑month deck‑department practice, including at least 6 months on vessels of ≥ 500 GT, finished with an operational exam.
• Alternatively – coastal‑navigation Watch Officer diploma + 6‑month international practice + MJE type D training and exam.
• Alternatively – national navigation skipper 1st class diploma + 12‑month international practice + MJE type D training and exam.
• Alternatively – 36‑month deck‑department practice (minimum 12 months on vessels ≥ 500 GT) + MJE type D training and exam.
• The practice must include at least 6 months of watch‑keeping duties on the bridge under the supervision of a captain or senior watch officer, documented by a certificate.

12 000 PLN

Upon completion, the participant will obtain all required qualifications and documentation to serve as a Watch Officer on international vessels of 500 GT and above.

• Świadectwo ogólnego operatora GMDSS.
• Świadectwa szkoleń z radaru i ARPA na poziomie operacyjnym.
• Świadectwo ochrony przeciwpożarowej stopnia wyższego.
• Świadectwo udzielania pierwszej pomocy medycznej.
• Świadectwo nautycznego dowodzenia statkiem.
• Świadectwo ratownika.
• Ukończenie studiów w MJE typu A, B lub C (co najmniej poziom operacyjny) oraz 12‑miesięczna praktyka w dziale pokładowym, w tym co najmniej 6 miesięcy na statkach o brutto ≥ 500 t.
• Alternatywnie – dyplom oficera wachtowego żeglugi przybrzeżnej oraz dodatkowa praktyka międzynarodowa.
• Alternatywnie – dyplom szczypta 1 klasy żeglugi krajowej oraz dodatkowa praktyka międzynarodowa.
• Alternatywnie – 36‑miesięczna praktyka w dziale pokładowym (minimum 12 miesięcy na statkach ≥ 500 t).
• Praktyka musi obejmować co najmniej 6 miesięcy pełnienia obowiązków wachtowego na mostku pod nadzorem kapitana lub oficera wachtowego.
