Course description
The Maritime Training Centre of Gdynia Maritime University conducts a full cycle of qualification training in the mechanical department, preparing candidates for merchant fleet officer diplomas. Training is carried out in accordance with the STCW Convention requirements and relevant ministerial regulations, using modern engine room simulators and laboratories at Gdynia Maritime University.

Training organisation
Courses run twice a year – the first cycle starts in October, the second in March. Classes are held on-site using engine room simulators, specialist laboratories, and lecture halls at Gdynia Maritime University. Full attendance is mandatory.
Training goal
Preparing trainees to pass state examinations before the Central Maritime Examination Board for officer diplomas in the mechanical department of the merchant fleet – from operational level (engineer officer of the watch, ship electrician, electro-technical officer) through management level (second engineer, chief engineer).
Requirements
Wymagania różnią się w zależności od programu szkolenia. Ogólne warunki przystąpienia:
- Posiadanie wymaganych świadectw przeszkoleń (ochrona przeciwpożarowa stopnia wyższego, pierwsza pomoc medyczna, dowodzenie siłownią okrętową, świadectwo ratownika)
- Ukończenie studiów w morskiej jednostce edukacyjnej (MJE typu A, B lub C) lub posiadanie odpowiedniej praktyki pływania w dziale maszynowym
- Udokumentowanie 100% wymaganej praktyki pływania na statkach o mocy maszyn głównych 750 kW i powyżej
- Dla poziomu zarządzania: posiadanie dyplomu oficera mechanika wachtowego i dodatkowej praktyki pływania
